HAPPY Birthday Daddy! Today July 30, 2010 my Dad born in 1930 celebrates the anniversary of his Birth. He was born in Gridley, CA. He likes to submit names of our Ancestors to have Temple work done. He has submitted hundreds of names. He & my mother loved doing this work & often took vacations just to see a great grandparent’s old homestead, birthplace of gravestone. Dad loves to talk about the existence of UFO’s. He walks everyday (he’ll tell you how many steps) for exercise and loves talking about what an inspiration he must be at age 77. My favorite memory of my Dad is Camping, hiking & fishing AZ. He would take all of us (6 Kids) on an allay hike and wear us out. I’m sure it was to give our Mother a break. We would walk for hours & Dad would say – “just around this corner & we are home”, over & over again. And eventually it was true. Also – every time we were squeezed together for a picture Dad would whisper in my ear “YOU know, you are my favorite Daughter”. I love you Dad!

We went to Cliff, New Mexico to witness & share the joy of Jacque Johnson's conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a wonderful meeting and we made lots of new friends. The weekend continued with camping and a Rodeo in Luna, NM.

Our Camp spot was in a beautiful spot just beyond the Rodeo Grounds in Luna. Jacque ran Barrels in the Rodeo and did really good. The rest of the Rodeo was a bust. . . it rained all day. . . allll day. The nights were clear & cool. We had a big fire, smores, watermelon & lots of stories. I LOVE CAMPING!

Riding Shaka & the "Secret" Verde River

In June I got a vacation from my Dad. Thank You! Michele & Jennifer had him come to Ohio for a couple of weeks. Jennifer works for Delta Airlines so Dad can Fly Free. It is a great perk. Then we got a quick visit from Jennifer & girls the first of July. I love the Nielsen girls. I can not imagine my life without them. We have made so many memories together. The whole flying free deal has helped us remain close even though they moved to Ohio. The Girls came & we enjoyed some of the good AZ Sunshine. Jess loves to share his old Mule, Shaka. We also had some fun at a very secret little oasis just outside of Payson, AZ. Jesse has a lot of these little secrets. . . I’ve been with him for 26 almost 27 years and never been here… we had a great visit!
Life has been very good in spite of work, household chores, & the economy. Jesse turned 50 this year and my Sisters Michele & Jennifer and I decided that was a good excuse to go to Hawaii. Thanks to Sister Michele with the Travel Club & the great room rates – we started making plans. Then since Jared was Graduating from BYU & he had never been to Hawaii – I invited him & Jamie. We planned & shopped & planned & bought swim suits and made reservations for tours and made everyone crazy just talking about it. I know we did! Sorry ... .but we were so excited. We saw the kids in February for a short visit when a dear friend of ours lost her Son. Mark Spradlin was one of Jared’s childhood friends. Hmmmm, very sad. Anyway, my point was this, while we were sharing time with them in February our sweet little Nash turned 2. That baby boy has stolen our hearts. Jess & I both started having a little anxiety just thinking about taking his parents away from him for 8 days. What were we thinking!?! Nash was in good hands though & so we were able to have a good time. I mean it was Hawaii. I did learn a couple of things which I will share; 1) 8 days in Kauai was too long. 2) next time, just me & my Sisters or just me & my Husband. It was great sharing Hawaii with Jared & Jamie - so Jurassic Park =0)
